I am horrible with blogs - sometimes I forget I have one and other times I'm just not in the mood! Well, for a while I forgot I have a blog because I never wrote an update about Cincinnati! Well guess what? Too late! If you are really dying to hear about it, let me know and I'd be more than willing to share.

So what's new? Well, core just started this past week and I have to deal with 8 people this semester. I shouldn't complain. Actually, I really thank God for answering my prayers and relieving some of my fears because a friend from church is in my core group - which is extremely rare. Usually you're not allowed to work with anyone you know!

Highlights of the week:
1. Family group with wings :)
2. Made cornbread today - delish!
3. Ate Salty Spicy Squid
4. Bought ice cream sandwiches
5. Seeing people back from winter break (this actually really lifted my spirits)

I know this was a pretty lame post, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things! Next post will be better, promise!

be still my soul

I just realized that I never updated after returning from Cincinnati. That I shall do soon! Perhaps before the end of this week. But for now, listen to this song! Page CXVI recreates old hymns and they are beautiful.

In My Life Your Will Be Done

if my heart has grown cold,
there Your love will unfold,
as You open my eyes to the work of Your hands

These lines are so encouraging. I think many times I lost sight of what is really important in my life. Our world is so fast paced and there are so many things going on at once. It's really difficult to remove all distractions and focus on building my relationship with God. However, He does not give up on us when we seem to fail Him time and time again. We just need to open our eyes to see His wonders and the things He is doing in our lives.

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving for Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm really excited but at the same time, I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach. What I am looking forward to is something called School of Evangelism. There will be about 70 short-term missionaries (all ages, mostly college probably) and a number of missionary families who live in the area and who will teach us about evangelism. After this four day retreat/conference, we will practice what we've learned in Over the Rhine, an inner-city neighborhood. May God just watch over all of us and provide for all our needs. I cannot wait to see the way He will challenge us and the way the Holy Spirit will be working in all of us.

Here are some prayer requests:

1. Unity among all the short-term missionaries. From my church, it is only me and another girl. We will be meeting another team/group in Philadelphia to drive with to Ohio. (Yes, I know. Long ride.)
2. Servant's attitude. Pray that we will serve with humility and serve with all our hearts. Though the missionaries there are providing a lot for us, we are not just going to support them. We are also going to serve them in any way we can.
3. Great expectations. Many times we feel that if we are expecting a lot from God, we will be so disappointed if the reality does not meet our expectations. But at the same time, God is able to fill our expectations to the brim, even to overflow. If we do not go with expectations, then we are not really trusting in what God can do.

When I return in two weeks, I will be sure to share my experiences! God Bless.

stumbled upon

Hi,

I randomly stumbled upon this blog again. I've been quite busy and haven't had much time to update.

Here's what's going on:

1. Currently taking class in Boston and living in a beautiful apartment with a friend. I'm also working at the Metropolitan College. Final exam is next week, eeek!

2. Leaving for Pennsylvania tomorrow morning at 7am for AMI Revolution: United. This is a conference for college students. I am going with my church Symphony. AMI stands for Acts Ministry International, the denomination and organization my church is part of. I am really excited, but at the same time, I cannot believe I will be there tomorrow with hundreds (maybe thousands) of other people!

3. I'm preparing and training to go on missions in the middle of July. I will be going to Cincinnati, Ohio to an area called Over the Rhine. There are many broken souls here and we are going to reach out to the lost with the love of Christ!

Those are the most important highlights I think. Summer feels like it is half-way over, but really, it has only begun! I think the official first day of summer was 1:45pm yesterday?? Okay, happy summer everyone! We'll chat again soon.

show me the kingdom

Day 35 -

I was confused because according to my counting of days of Lent, Good Friday should be here in about 5 days! But I think I included Sundays into my count. Anyways, we're close to the end!

I'm temped to just say that Lent has been going well and things are good. But I think that has become my default answer for everything. It's easy to say that everything is good and classes are going well because nobody questions you further. If you say that things are not going so well and something is wrong, then you've gotten yourself into a longer conversation and you become vulnerable. What student has time to dig into his or her heart and figure out what is going wrong?

These past weeks have just been busy and filled with work, meetings, class, church, small group, etc. I feel like seldom do I have time to rest. The few days that I can rest, a random group meeting pops up or my list of things to do reminds me that I cannot rest - there are better things I should be doing with my time.

In the midst of things, it's easy to forget about Lent and forget the meaning of Lent. Though I am following my church's daily devotionals, I don't feel any closer to God. Things are not getting any easier. If anything, lack of classes due to Capstone (11 hours less of class per week) has prompted me to become lazy. I don't want to do any work. Some days I'd rather just spend time with my friends from fellowship and church or just listen to Christian music and hide out. I don't want to go out and be challenged to love those who are difficult to love.

I hope the things I am learning through devotions are not just becoming new knowledge to me. Just knowing that Jesus Christ died for my sins is very different from actually living out a purposeful life because Jesus Christ offers me a new life apart from sin and allows me to enter into a relationship with God, who has a plan for me.
